GoodGuide has released their long-awaited iPhone application. It is available for free from the Apple App Store.

In case you have not come across GoodGuide yet, it’s a service (in early beta at the moment, but open for applications) that allows you to search a vast database of products to make it easier for you to shop safely. It does that by classifying its products by using a nifty scheme that ranks products concerning their environmental, social, and health performance.

It also provides you with lots of hard data on which ingredients to avoid and why products have been rated in a certain way.

GoodGuide is not yet available in any other language than English thus making products searches somewhat more difficult for Europeans and, obviously, limiting the products available.

Nevertheless, I’ve found it to be an invaluable tool - that is now also available to you when you are standing right in front of the supermarket shelf.
