Platial Gets an Update

The social mapping site Platial just received a facelift. And it seems to be quite a substantial one.

I always liked Platial for being its extensive map-making features and the possibility to create virtually anything from city tour guides to restaurant directories or visual genealogical databases. It always lacked a few crucial elements in terms of usability, though.

I am wondering if Platial could add any significant mashup-ready collaboration features to Google Maps that the latter might not offer.

By the way, I am managing a few maps you can access and contribute to here.
